    High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

Anyone else giving this a go? Despite eating a healthy diet I wasn't losing any weight. I've started counting calories because I was desperate and no weight loss (even with exercise). My exercise physiologist has said cycling is ok for my back so I've been doing a bit on the exercise bike and still no weight loss.

Tried HIIT on the bike and I can feel and see the difference after only a few days. The scales are beginning so go down too! I only spend 24 minutes a day too. Apparently something to do with extra oxygen consumption increasing my metabolism long after I finish exercising. I'd love to hear others experience with this sort of exercise plan.

I find cycling is fantastic for maintaining weight or losing if you need. I do Spin and RPM which are both high intensity interval training, and it's 45mins of high intensity cycling. You burn on average around 600 cals per session depending on how hard you work. And your body keeps burning through the day.

I did a Spin class a few months back, the instructor was a different one to who we had in the past, it was like Spin on speed. He would get you to turn your dial up to almost full and also Spin with one leg and do push up on the bike while you were cycling. He also went around and made sure you were working to capacity and turned the tension dial for you I nearly didn't finish it was so tough!

Pump is another one that works well. My SIL did not lose any weight doing Pump, what it did do is change her body completely. Not in a muscle building way, a slim and fit looking way. She did it twice a week. It's another one that keeps burning the calories after you finish your session.

Reading back on your post, Pump sounds like it would not be good for you as it's weights.

I am interested in it, but very unsure of how due to my pelvic floor. Sounds like a bike would be the way to go ( have been told bikes, rowing machines are great, but not running and jogging).

I was doing a form of HIIT with some DVD workouts I was following, it was referred to as Tabata. I was losing weight when I was doing those DVD's. I can go back to them, but have to modify some of the exercises.

Astrid - I had to switch to Cycle from doing Body Attack due to my Pelvic floor as well. It's been a great switch!

Yeah weights are out as I have a shocking pelvic floor, combined with poor core muscles and a predisposition to slip a disc. Shame because I used to love pump.

Astrid, I'm finding it's great with my pelvic floor and not causing me issues at all. The programme I am doing is

    30 seconds full on
60 seconds slow (repeat times 4)

    45 seconds full on
    45 seconds slow (X4)

    30 seconds full on
    30 seconds slow (x4)

My exercise bike is fairly basic so I'm not sure if I could do anything more but I can really feel it burning even hours later
