    Booked a second lap today....

Pain has started to amp up each month again to levels I am not happy with and that means I am having to rearranged my life around af again which just is plain annoying.
It's almost 5 years since my first, at the time I had level 4 endo - which is the highest. I had a choc cyst on left ovary, it has not returned, but a transvaginal US today revealed one on my right ovary now. Uterus is bulky which probably means endo in the wall of the uterus (adendomsosis? sp??).

My gynae is a lovely man and very kind and gentle in his manner. He has put aside a whole afternoon for my surgery as last time it took him 3 hours.....he said that I need to be aware that in 10 or so years, I will probably need to have a hysterectomy.....that's a big deal for a 38 year old to handle...I want to use my uterus first!! I have realistically no more than 5 years to have a baby.....sigh.

The thought of never having to worry about a period and working out if my schedule can be arranged around her is kinda exciting, but 10 years is a long way off yet!

Please don't think that you *need* a hysterectomy! You don't. Hysterectomy is the easy way out for Drs instead of actually treating your problems. It's also been shown to have no effect on endo because the endo cells grow outside the uterus and can appear on other organ, even after the uterus is removed. He's spinning you a line hun. I've been there. I thought my gyno was brilliant, until he lied to me about fibroids I didn't have and said I MUST have a hysterectomy. Women do not need hysterectomies to treat endo. Don't let this get you down because you will be worrying for nothing at all

    Trillion has a point...

Sorry to hear the pain and endo have returned. Do you have a date for your surgery?

    Yes surgery is 10th April.
Trillian I know endo grows elsewhere, I had/have it everywhere. Everyone's behaves differently though and mine is only symptomatic during my period, no period, no pain or during ovulation (does a woman without a uterus but keeps her ovaries still ovulate, I imagine she does) when I have ovary pain for a half day or so.
I know hysterectomy is a huge step, but a life of pain like I have is no walk in the park either. It's not something I will take lightly for sure....and pregnancy can be a big help with endo as far as I have read....

On a side note, it really irks me that private doctors can charge whatever they like above the scheduled fee - mine charges $2500 above, wow!

I am not sure if you have read her blog or not but maybe single infertile female may have some info that may help. She has/had aggressive endo too and has had quite some time pain free from hers after her last surgery. Maybe you could compare notes with her? Or even something on her blog of interest?
