Dd is telling me it hurts to wee. Not everytime, but when it does it really hurts & she asks for a shower. I think the warm water helps I guess.
She is a bit red, but haven't noticed anything else. She says she's itchy, but she doesn't seem to be at all.
I asked if she's been touching it, but she says no & we have 2 other kids sleeping over, so she's been distracted with them.
I'm not sure what to think. Gp/ed is not an option til wednesday & we don't have much to treat thrush here in town. Will give her a few apple cider vinegar baths & see if I can come up with an antifungal cream, but I'm not even sure thats what it is.
My DD had a UTI a few weeks ago with the exact same symptoms you described. Go to GP and they will do a really quick wee test and put on AB's if needed. They may also tell you to give her Ural, but as it is only recommended for kids over 12 you really need GP advice before giving it to her.
ETA- is she weeing or having the urge to wee frequently?
No more than usual & is red on the outside. Not sure if her wee is stronger than usual or not.
I've never had a uti, neither have my other girls, but my sister is pretty prone to them. Will see if s/market has cranberry juice tomorrow & up her water intake.
My dd says that when the skin on her labia has been scalded by wee. At that age they don't wipe themselves properly and the wee left on the skin burns it slightly. I use Sudocreme and it clears it right up. I also offer more frequent bath/showers.
You could try Sudocreme or since based nappy rash cream on the red area and see if it helps.
I would think thrush is unlikely and a it I would cause frequency, stinging and more discomfort.
That's a good point. Since dd toilets alone it's pretty rare for her to use toilet paper, no matter how hard I push. Unless its a poo & I do it for her.
She's on her second apple cider vinegar & tea tree bath today & it's not looking as red as it was. I'll have to see if I have any nappy rash creams... its been a while since I've needed to use any.
