Is it red or brown blood?
My DD got her first period overnight last Thursday/Friday. Today - a week later - she is still bleeding. As far as I can tell it is fairly light (I am comparing it to my own, I guess), but I would have thought it would have stopped by now.
Hoping to hear from others whose DD's have gone through similar.
Thanks in advance![]()
Is it red or brown blood?
Thankfully I've got years ahead of me before DD gets to this stage, but I remember my first one. It wasn't very heavy - started pretty light, was heavier around day 3 before getting lighter again and finishing on day 7. They stayed like this for years, it wasn't til I was in my 20s that it started going to 5 days, and that only seemed to happen once I was on the pill.
Mine lasted about 10 days. Isn't the first one heavier? I can't remember. My first one was 10 days, and from then on they were between 10-14, and very heavy.
My first one was quite light and lasted a day or two, my DD1 was the same.
my first one was light but lasted 7 days.
Thanks everyone! I guess it's true what they say...we are all different!
I'm not worried so much as surprised.
Can I hijack this post & ask at what age your girls got their first period?
My DD got her first in Oct & it was light to start with then heavy & lasted for about 5 days. November was similar (maybe a bit heavier?) but Dec was non existent & Jan was only one day of light bleeding. I cried when she told me she had her period, happy tears, the realisation my little girl was turning into a young lady, lots of emotions.
Dee my DD was 12yrs 7mths. I was a similar age.
My DD was 11. She has very short periods 3-4 days.
She might need a few cycles to begin to understand what's *normal* for her. My sister and I were very different with our cycles, as was my Mum and I. Anything is normal at this point. 7 days doesn't sound anything unusual to me.
How are you feeling about all of this though? It's a special time for both of you. Are you going to do anything to celebrate her menarche?
I was going to say the same congrats and commiserations. It's such a bittersweet moment because it's a wonderful celebration of their blossoming to a young lady. But sad for the sentimental saps like me who sobbed at them not being a little girl anymore![]()
Mine first was 8 days solid. And continued like that, like clockwork until I had DD1.
I was 13.
I remember mine lasting for ages the first time, was probably 7 or 8 days, very light.
Mine was only a few days. And always has been. 4-5 days tops. I was 12.5.
I expect DD1 to get hers this year :/ I don't want it to happen. I hate having to deal with AF.
A lot of girls I know had their first, then 6-8 weeks til the next one. Took a good 6-12 months before they became regular.
I was 12 and mine was super light and went for 2 weeks. Then it was very sporadic until my 20s when it was around 5 days long.
