dd fell onto the floor :(

DD rolled off the couch and fell onto the floor tonight. We have floorboards and a thin rug I heard a thud, but no cry. Ran over to her and she was just laying there with her eyes rolling into her head. I panicked and picked her up, she was limp and still not crying. Finally after about 30 seconds she started crying. I cuddled her for a while and layed her down to check her eyes etc. She seemed ok now and had stopped crying. Went to the GP and he said she was ok, but I have to keep an eye on her overnight and check her breathing etc. So I'll set my alarm and check her.

I just cant get the image of her laying on the floor, eyes rolling, not moving. It was terrifying. Can't stop crying

Hugs Tasha - ur not alone in having kids fall. When ds1 was six months or so I had him in a swing sitting on our bed (stupid I know) and he wasn't buckled in either and he must have sat up (never done it before) and fell right over the bed and into the floor.

Nothin makes u feel worse when something like that happens and it's all our fault and we should know better, but it happens and we don't do it on purpose.

I'm glad she seems okay and hope u get some sleep tonight in between checking on her.

How scary : (. Good call taking her to the GP though... better to be safe than sorry. Hope you are both ok tonight. Xx

I know I feel awful She doesn't seem upset by the bump though, which is good I suppose. I will be taping pillows to everything once she starts to pull herself up on things!

    Thanks Andie.

It's so terrifying. The same thing happened to my ds when he was younger, the eyes rolling back and everything. It was so so scary. Turns out the going limp/rolly eyes thing is because he tried to do a big cry when he fell and didn't breathe. He's done it a few times since, it's a normal thing some kids just do but it's always scary! *hugs*

It's so scary isn't it! My nephew threw his head back and smacked it against the edge of our glass coffee table - I swear my heart stopped beating! 3 hours at the hospital and all was okay. But it's so scary when they don't cry

Thank you everyone. She is ok today, I got up a few times last night to check on her. This morning she banged a toy into her face while playing, just softly, and she started crying. Poor little chicken is scarred!

    You poor thing, scary.
My dd fell off our bed (very high) onto floorboards onto her head, DH and I were in the room and I saw it happen. She was fine after crying for a bit but it took ages for me to erase the sight and sound of her head banging out of my mind. It was an extremely loud thump. I spoke to a paed and he said the first 4hours after it happens are the most high risk for problems.

I hope she is feeling better. (And you) xx
