Paternity Leave

Hi,

A question for people who have claimed Paternity leave through the new government system.

When you have an approved time by your place of work for paternity leave, does the centrelink payement match up with the dates you are having off or is it processed and you get paid whenever?

My husband is trying to make a date to have time off but if we don't get paid for the weeks he is having off we need to know the money will be paid by centrelink at the same time....

the aim is to have it paid at a similar time - but it depends on when you send the claim in, whether you are asking for time immediately after bub is born, or later etc - if it's immediately after birth, chances of you getting it when you need it are lower than if you are claiming it a couple of weeks later - as nothing can be claimed without proof of birth, and obviously that won't be submitted before bub arrives to give time to process etc

Thankyou so much. I missed your reply because I am not getting notifications. THe baby will be one in May, we have 12 mths to apply so if I put in the paperwork in the next few weeks, perhaps work will let him take a week off once we know when the money might come through.
