What does your bub wear under a sleeping bag?

DD has been in sleeping bags for a while now and with winter coming up I'm interested to see what clothes everyone else is using with a sleeping bag. At the moment I am using a 1 tog bag with a singlet and a cotton growsuit. And this is with a room temp of around 18-21. I am planning on switching to a 2.5 tog as winter nears and using a thicker terry towelling style growsuit and singlet. In winter the overnight low here can get to 2 degrees, but is usually around 3-6 and the nursery temp a few degrees higher.
    So what do you use?

I have also read to put blankets as well as a sleeping bag. Does anyone do this? Do they just get kicked off during the night?

And another thing, all the guides suggest growsuit etc with a pyjama top or pyjamas. Isn't 9 months a bit young to have pyjamas? I don't have any for her. In fact, I don't think I have even seen pyjamas in a OO or even O!

I just used a normal wondersuit and a 2.5tog sleeping bag. when they got older just standard flannel pjs. Both girls were 10months then I started using standard pjs. I never put blankets over as I'm pretty sure it's a no-no?

I use sleeping bag & long sleeved onsie with no legs, pair of lightweight pants over the top. Onsie singlet thing underneath too. Also just using 1-1.5 tog bag atm.

If its a bit colder I put a blanket over the top. Baby is put with feet at bottom of cot, blanket tucked in firmly around sides and bottom of cot. I think it's ok to use blankets as long as you tuck them in like this? My little one usually end up at the other end of the cot, upside down anyway. ; )

Re: What does your bub wear under a sleeping bag?

At the moment my bubba (5.5 months) is still in love to dream 50/50 swaddle, with arms out (0.6 tog). We're still having some warm nights, so last night he started off in a singlet and swaddle, then I feel his chest when he comes for a feed, I put him in a long sleeved pyjama top as he felt cool. He has worn onesie pyjamas with the swaddle, when it's been cold and he's also got a 2 piece pyjama set. (He's a 0 already, my big boy) The nights that it has been colder I have a sheet over the top of his swaddle, then add a flannelette sheet or waffle blanket as it gets colder. He stays on his back though, and only rolling to side. He doesn't roll when he has the sheet over the top of him. I also make sure the sheet is tight and only goes up to just under his arms, feet at bottom end of the cot. Like I said I feel his chest to see if he's cold and needs more layers or warmer pyjamas. My boy doesn't like the terry towelling suit, he refuses to sleep in them. (I have tried him in them a couple of times, while he normally settles fine, he cried and cried till I took the suit off…)

You can get pjs for size 000, so cute! But for the purposes of your question, a onesie can be considered pyjamas imo. For ours we just dressed them for bed so a singlet or snappy type suit with their pjs/onesie plus the bag and socks. We never used blankets with a bag as we use different weight depending on the season.

Re: What does your bub wear under a sleeping bag?

Thanks for the replies. I guess it's a range of different things you can use. It was an overnight low of 9 degrees here and the nursery temp was at 16-17 degrees at 9pm. I also have a grobag 2.5 tog I got for $20! And a friend gave me a Bubaroo bag and I think it may be 3.5 tog because it's super thick. Just checked on the website and they are $89! :0 I worry because I am always cold so don't want her to be too cold at night. Will look nto some nice cosy flannelette pj's

Jacks been in a 2.5 tog bag for a few weeks now. Room temperature is 22d. He also has a singlet and onsie underneath. No blankets as he moves all over the cot. He like to be warm. I also have a flanelette sheet as he loves the feel of it on his face. He mostly sleeps on his side or tummy. I know he is cold if he is on his tummy with his bum up.

Re: What does your bub wear under a sleeping bag?

It depend of the overnight forecast here. If it is forecast under 12 degrees then we use a long sleeve long leg onesie or winter pjs with a 2.5 tog bag, if its over 12 then the same with a 1 tog bag if its over 20 degrees forecast then a .5 tog bag and the warmer the weather forecast overnight, the less she wears under the sleeping bag.

Feeling amused because here in Perth we're still going to bed with just a nappy most nights! Can't wait for it to cool down enough to justify cute pyjamas.

Re: What does your bub wear under a sleeping bag?

It was freezing last night! Nursery was 15 degrees at 7am. I think dd was a bit cold, she woke briefly twice and her cough has come back I saw some thermal long sleeved body suits in Target so I might grab some to put under her growsuit.

I just feel like a singlet and growsuit doesn't cut it. But I am a 500 blankets and a doona kind of person

Re: What does your bub wear under a sleeping bag?

We got given some flannelette cot sheets so we use them and since most of his clothes are secondhand we have some long onsies that are too big so if it's a freezing night he wears a singlet, socks and maybe a thin longsleeved tshirt and tights under that. Makes changing him a pain! But also keeps him toasty since our windows don't close all the way and it's a high rise house so it gets FREEZING already
