DD (7years old) has what looks like a scratch on her labia minora (inside the lips of her vagina). She often complains of being 'wet', and will go and wipe herself pretty vigorously. I can only assume that she's likely scratched herself when doing that, and now it's quite painful for her. (Yes, we have had discussions about how she wipes herself, and needing to be gentle, etc...).
Is there anything I might be able to do for her to help her heal, or to ease the pain a bit, especially when she wee's!? I thought of maybe putting some paw paw ointment or maybe coconut oil on it? I have antiseptic cream too, but thought that would likely hurt, a lot! I have canisten cream for thrush, but I'm pretty sure it's not thrush, the rest of her bits looked normal.
Could it be anything else? Do you think we should see a doctor?
If it's stinging her when she goes to do a wee tell her to sit on the toilet and try to lean as far forward as possible while she wee's, this will make the wee run forward rather than backward over her scratch!
I would probably put some paw paw ointment on it, even if it doesn't help it heal quicker it will put a barrier on it.
Have you had a talk to her about playing with her self, at the age they start to become a little bit more aware of themselves and just start checking things out down there (not in a sexual way at all they just just get a bit curious about what's going on)..
Once or twice I have gone into the shower/bath to get DSD (6yrs) out of the shower and found her having a little a look/fiddle down there..
