My 2.5 yr old has been saying "eyes sore" for a few weeks. Can't see anything in them, not red or irritated.
He has eczema, but is generally healthy otherwise.
Get eyes checked at local opto. It may be eye strain, weakness in one eye or something. At 2.5 a local opto should be able to say if anything is "off" and perhaps give you a referral to a paed opthamologist. It's probably nothing at all, but I'd always err on the side of caution and get checked. Could just be dry eyes due to heating etc. but always best to play it safe and get checked. We have had dd on six mintky eye checks for pretty much her whole life due to family history and a turn she had as a teeny bub. Both local opto and the opthamologist have been awesome with her
It may be a reaction to the weather in combination with creams being used to treat the excema. Both DH and Ds suffer with excema and dh especially gets really sore and dry eyes from the various creams and ointments he uses. The amount increases in the winter so his eyes become more problematic. He uses some lubricating eyedrops that seem to help him out. I know eye drops and small people is not the easiest challenge, but you can now buy lubricating spray which you apply when the eye is shut and as it opens it absorbs the moisture. Could also be something to try as well as the optometrist.
DH brought up the idea yesterday that maybe he is getting itchy eyes with the weather changes, and calls them 'sore'. dh had eczema as a child and gets hay fever type reactions, and DS is similar. worth thinking about if the optometrist comes back clear. Thanks
