    Family holiday

We're keen for a family holiday in September this year.
Last year- we went to the Gold Coast this year, we want to head overseas.
We want a 7 day holiday, for 4 people for 3k. (Feel free to tell me I'm dreaming)
We're going with another family of 4.
Options so far are Fiji and Bali.
I love the idea of a private villa.
Hit me up with your recommendations!

Is Hawaii too much for your budget? Everyone I know who goes there raves about it! Especially families.

We did Fiji for 5k 9 years ago but that was staying in a beach front bure. A lot of the resorts have kids stay and eat free deals.

You could also look at a cruise.

    Re: Family holiday

We went to Bali last year with my family (so seven adults, 2 toddlers) and it was great. We stayed in private villas which had two rooms joining to a main kitchen dinning area which was kind of open plan and it opened up to your own private pool and grassed area. This was then all gated off from the main hotel. It was great for out toddler who could run around and splash in the knee deep part of the pool while we relaxed on the sun lounges.

It def was affordable for all of us. Cabs and such are very reasonably priced and eating obviously like all Asian country's can be expensive or cheap depending where you go. We went to the Bali zoo which was great for toddlers and kids. Has a zoo part and also a little water park which was fantastic for cooling off after a long time in the sun!

We're going to Fiji in March for about $5000 for 2 of us from Sydney. It is a more exxie resort (for a wedding) and kids do stay and eat free, but I'm not sure you'd manage to get an overseas holiday for $3000.
    Have you thought about NZ?

Another thought, you mentioned going in September, this will increase the price dramatically given it's school holidays

NZ is a great option! Our school holidays aren't until the very end of September so there won't be a lot of locals at the tourist spots, motels not so busy etc.

    Thanks ladies!

We went to NZ on our honeymoon and loved it!
What would the weather be like in September on the north island?

What about Malaysia? Keep an eye out for air asia sales (subscribe to their emails like I do) and you should be able to sneak a holiday for 3g . Lots of great things to do for adults and kids. Dh and I went there for our honeymoon and again last year and we loved it both times. I'm happy to share my experiences if you're interested in a more detailed response.

September in the North Island would be mild. There is heaps of things to do in the top half of the north island - the ski field should still be open in September, the thermal parks in Rotorua/Taupo, the rafting/glowworm caves at Waitomo.

it depends what you are after, but we just spent 2 weeks in Malaysia, stayed at a resort in the city, hired a car (but stayed with family in the village) and for the 5 of us (DH, FIL, me and 2 kids) it was 2k after flights (which were another 2k).
it was 1k for a 2 bed apartment in berjaya Times square (book early so had a good discount) for 9 days, then ate in the shopping cetnre food court (spent about $30 aud for the 5 of us most meals, but did see family at posh places which blew out to 100 Aud).
We also went to the theme park in the complex which was $50aud for entry (my kids are 2 and 4 so cheaper than 12yo +) and easily spent a day there.
