DD2 has been Constipated for about 8 days .
She is only passing tiny pebbles some times. She is squatting on the floor crying out In pain and unable to move when she does this ..
She has a good diet of solids but the last week or so she hasn't been super interested in eating to much . She is always offered plenty of fruits and veggies . She is breastfed and still is .
She drinks plenty of breastmilk and water .
Iv tried a stool softener medicine that the chemist gave me . Warm baths .
I have started a new medication myself two weeks ago but was told by Rodney white that bubs wouldn't be affected and would be fine .
Could this be doing it ?
Not sure what to do .
Does she need a dr ? When does does constipation in 1 year olds become serious ?
Sorry to hear DD is constipated. Its the worst. I find if DS gets really constipated the rectals suppositories work quickly and ease the back log. I put a bit of sudocream on the tip to help it go in. Sometimes he pushes them out while I am inserting it and while pushing it out manages to poop by himself.
I have heard another trick is to put sudocream or something like that on a cotton bud and insert just the tip and swirl it around. A Dr recommended this and the person using this method says it works a treat, quickly and to watch out for the explosion.. I have not tried it as I am too scared he will clench up and the the bud will be stuck up there and I will have some explaining to do lol.
My friends little one used to be bad for toilet training doing number 2's and hold on for days. She found Parochoc was a god send. I just googled it and says suitable from 12 months onwards.
I am not too sure on bf and medication.
Good luck. Its horrible to watch them being in pain.
Maybe try the suppository to see if that helps?
Does she sit on a potty at all? That always helped my DD, too.
Hope she's feeling better soon. If there were a recorded side-effect with the medication then I suspect Rodney would know about it.
My 22 month old has had terrible problems with constipation and as a result anal fissures since she was about a year old. She is now on a daily dose of Movical Junior. BUT she has done this under the supervision of our GP and we have also consulted a Paed about it. It is the right solution for her at this time as changes to diet etc made no difference and she was in agony it was horrible to see. I would go to GP now as it is best to get on top of constipation
No cows milk and hasn't been eating bananas much lately ..
Iv made a dr appointment for tomorrow just to see what they say as I hate seeing her like this ..
