    Cast iron skillet

Where can I get one that won't cost a fortune?

    Re: Cast iron skillet

We got ours from a camping store. It was cheap and it's great. I can't do great big sauces in it. It's only shallow. About an inch deep. But it suits us for now. Eventually we will get some lodge pieces. But I need to save up

    Re: Cast iron skillet

I got an enamelled cast iron pan off one of the deal sites. It was about $30. I have had it for a couple of years and the enamel is starting to crack/chip in the middle but it has been my main pan for ages so it has been good value. The enamel makes it easier to clean and it doesn't rust like a normal cast iron pan.

Victorias basement have their own brand ones (benzer) for about $50. I bought one about six months ago and it's been great.

    Re: Cast iron skillet

Ooh thanks!! I found one for 39 but it's not the skillet it's a "cook and serve dish"
I want something that I can cook anything from a slab of steak to a pancake on that I don't have to throw out for a very long time. I have no luck with fry pans. Not even scanpan!!

Kitchenware direct ships for a flat rate. $7.50 I think.
Sometimes they have free shipping for a week or so.

I don't know if I'm cut out for this. The waiting process while it seasons is killing me haha

Hah yes I love seasoning my cast iron. I have a grill pan I got from a garage sale for $5 it needs reseasoning! You've just reminded me!

    Re: Cast iron skillet

Pretty impressed so far considering its a cheapy. Cooked scrambled eggs and pancakes with no worries. Did use a tiny bit of coconut oil tho (I'm talking like maybe half a teaspoons worth) to help with extra seasoning. Must admit the food has a new taste. Can't wait to cook a steak haha
