Yay, nits are going round DS's school and he's caught them. DH and I are currently clear, but please give me your best remedies for head lice that I can use while pregnant: both preventative and if I do get them. Sadly shaving off the mane is not an option.
Eta just done a deep condition and comb and found a few.😣 Any advice to remove them?
Thanks!

If you don't want to use chemicals, conditioner and combing is the way to go. Do it every couple of days. Some say hairspray helps prevent them. I used to make a spray with water, lavender, tee tree and rose geranium essential oils and a blob of conditioner in a spray bottle filled with water and sprayed the kids hair with it every morning when I brushed it. I'm not sure whether it worked but it made me feel better lol.
haven't tried it, but heard that mouth wash in the hair for couple hours, with a showercap on if possible, followed by warm coconut oil through the hair can work.
another one was apple cidar vinegar, then coconut oil
We only ever use hair conditioner and combing with nits. It works really really well. Get the cheapest hair conditioner you can find. Pop it on, then use a nit comb to comb any out. Repeat once a day until you don't find anymore. We mostly just need two treatments. The conditioner smothers them and also makes it easy to get the nit comb through. We tried one of the chemical brands and not only was it expensive and a pain, but it made the hair sticky so we couldn't get the comb through.
I'm using a nit comb atm and managed to get loads out of Liebling's hair last night and some from mine - although I lost so much hair to the comb you couldn't really tell much more. We all used a pregnancy-safe treatment too, so although I'm not going to fully count us clear yet, both the treatment and the comb say they get the eggs as well as the lice. So going to keep up with the conditioner-and-combing for us all for another week. I'll wash with vinegar too next time I wash my hair first, can't hurt any.
