    Good shoes?

Where can I find good kids shoes for a reasonable price in Melb south east? DD would be a 4. My friend gave me a great pair of sandals in a 3w, but she has outgrown them now. Betts kids has great shoes, but a bit pricey unless you get ones on sale. Are pumpkin patch shoes any good? Target, Kmart etc all have awful uncomfortable looking shoes.

I have found some great shoes in Payless shoes. If you stay away from the cheaper ones you can get some good quality. I got DD1 a pair of black with embroided flower pattern pair of mary jane type shoes when she was little, she loved them, I bought the same shoe in the next two sizes up. DD2 wore them too because they lasted. You can generally get a deal there too with the second pair been half price. Sketchers are always a fav or mine too. DH gets our from America when he goes over but catch of the day always has deals come up.

    Re: Good shoes?

Thanks Kazzo, I had a quick look in payless a few days back, but our store didn't have much. I am finding that most stores size 4 is a little too big and that is the smallest. But she doesn't like the pre-walkers, walks better in proper shoes. Might take a look at sketchers too, that reminds me I love converse. I'll check them out too

    Re: Good shoes?

    I've changed this post

My son always wears kmart, big w , target shoes cuz honestly I'm not wanting to spend a lot on shoes he grows out of every 2 months. He has never complained about any of the shoes and actually seems to prefer them. He loves the cheapie boat shoes and the joggers kmart sells.

Although ATM he loves his blue joggers from Payless that I got on sale for. 9.95

    Re: Good shoes?

Thanks everyone. AlligatorsMum, that is a problem to about growing out of them too quick. That's why I don't wish to spend more than $30-40 per pair. The betts kids website has some good sandals reduced from $70 to $35

Which size gets the most wear? ITMS

    Re: Good shoes?

Shoes are the one thing that DD wears that we buy new and don't skimp on. She wears Bobux and we have bought them on sale a few times. I recon that we can get away with second hand clothes but shoes are so important for foot growth, walking etc that is the one thing we splurge on.

Yes, this is how I look at it. I always have to wear good shoes or my hips get sore (previous injury) So I want her to spend he first year walking in good supportive shoes. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to splurge but I can splurge on a sale item

    Re: Good shoes?

I have heard from several professionals and the like that kids are best barefoot in the first few years, especially while they are still growing fast (first five years sort of thing).
As babies and toddlers my kids only wore shoes that didn't hinder their development in their foot growing, and shoes are never worn for long either. The first decent pair of shoes I bought them are school shoes where they are required to spend all day in them.
And again I've found great quality shoes in almost every shop that sells shoes and I've found them from a variety of price points too.
