*cries*
My nappies have mold, not just little mouldy spots, full on growing hair!
Can I save them?? Please, I don't want to have to get rid of my whole stash =*(
And how do I prevent it? I haven't changed anything in last few months, except now I have 1 1/2 in cloth (quark full time, spock part).
My only advice is to wash them in nappysan or similar and hang out at night time and leave out for a couple days so the sun kills the spores.
I don't remember having a problem when my girls were in nappies but we took the nappy off and placed it in a nappy bucket with water & nappysan or whatever it was we used. If the nappy was dirty we rinsed then put in the bucket.
I washed everyday and just tipped the bucket into the machine, added water and detergent and did a normal wash.
This was in the days of flat nappies
You need to kill the spores. Clive oil should do it. An acidic condition will also inhibit growth, but not great for your elastics. Maybe a sprinkle of citric acid in the bottom of your nappy bin?
Ok, so no more growth, but I can still smell dirt...so think there are still spores. Half of my boosters didn't survive though, they have just disintegrated =(
