    How do you pronounce PCOS?

When you say PCOS out-loud, do you say "pee - cee - oohh - ess" or do you say "pee - coss"

    Just interested

Oohh, so a bit of both ...

I've always assumed that it's pronounced p-cos, but both my OB's have pronounced it pee-cee-ohh-ess, so I wondered if I was the only one.

    Thankfully I'm not

Hmm... interesting... I've never really paid much attention to what the doctors call it. I'll have to start taking notes on what they say.

I pronounce it polly-sis-tick-oh-vary-sin-drome. The doctor for whom I used to work would say "pee-see-oh", "pee-see-oh-ess" or "pee-cos"... or polycystic ovary syndrome. Usually it was the long version and then "her condition" or something similar after that.

    I've always said "pee coss".

Reminds me a bit of "ICSI" actually. Before I met other people on IVF I would have said "eye see ess eye" but now I know it's "ick-see".

    Funny, isn't it?

My FS calls it ick-see, too! (and hence, so do I!)

I always called it the initials names Pee Cee Ohh Ess, and would have called ICSI as eye see ess eye until I've now been educated!

    Depends on who you ask

BTW - I've always said "ick-si" too, not "eye-see-ess-eye". Maybe I'm just a lazy talker. I'm pretty sure my FS pronounced it ick-si too though.
