Question Can anyone knit a baby beanie?

Junior would LOVE a Bombers football beanie!

Is there anyone out there who could knit a small one for him that I could buy?

Would it matter if a bit of white slipped in??? lol

Rayray could knit one, she will tell you she can't but she really can!.

The only problem might be getting nice soft baby wool in black, but maybe if you used 5 ply then you could do it.

I would be happy to but I refuse to take any money from you! Wot so ever.

I can't do beanies. I tried once, it was a complete shambles. 3 needles at once is just too much for me.
I can do him a scarf though

You don't need 3 needles to knit a beaning, but then of course you get a seam, but B never seemed to mind them at all.

The darkes I have seen baby wool is navy.

You could probably use that black polar knitt fluffy wool... I think I may even have some... its a sort of faded blacky colour but definately black not grey... and use a similart red.

    powderpuff

    can't remember the brand.

debbie bliss baby wool is great but again you will be hard pressed to get black, and its expensive anyway.

    That's it Powderpuff.

OK any alpaca wool should be ok for a baby as it is soft and definately not irritating like wool wool... you should be able to get black..

    Um,

Jo Sharp Alpaca Kid Lustre comes in black and red it should be about the $13 a ball mark but that would give you a junior sized scarf, beanie and booties.

panda Regal 4 ply Crochet cotton would also knit up ok for baby stuff, but probably not enough elasticity to do a beanie so ignore that.

would you want a pompom?, a normal beanie, or somthing a bit funky and out there with a hippy feel to it but in bomber's colours?

oh gosh, i didnt realise the wool was so expensive!

Is that shaggy soft stuff any cheaper? (do you know what i mean?...there was a craze not that long ago with these long shaggy scarfs)

You mean feathers.. yep thats heaps cheaper... and the powder puff stuff (knits up like polar fleece) is about 3-4 $ per ball.

the synthetic stuff is cheaper, it depends what you want it for, as wool is more breathable, warm etc.

I just want it for show-- to prove to Dh that Junior LOVES bombers hehe

It doesnt necessarily need to be warm

I actually think the feathers stuff feels yucky... and so does Brigid.

Tell you what, I will have a look in my scrap box (a veritable wool shop of odments I am saving for little things) and I also have to go to spotlight tonight so I will email you some prices/availabilities... OH plus I will be over the plaza so I will check Big W as they have some nice stuff there... then I will just let you know.
