My Obs told me that my cervix was 50% thinned.
What exactly does that mean? I suppose i should of asked him, but, i just dont think to ask to many questions at the time.
Hi
Mum2be
Your cervix needs to be 100% 'thinned' before it can dilate fully. This thinning often happens before you go into labour.
Your cervix is normally about 2.5 cm long and will thin to less than 1 mm
Thanks Alan, how much of a 'time frame' type indication is that then? Or, is there not really any way of telling.
Like, is it normal at this stage of pregnancy to be 50% thinned?
If you are 50% and I can only go on what your Dr said then there is a slight chance that you will not make 40 weeks. However I have know women to be 75% at 37 weeks and still go past their due date. If you want to help bring on labour now would be a good time to start using evening primrose oil if you are not already using it
