    Aluminium Free Deodorant

The 'products for sensitive skin' thread prompted me to ask if anyone knows of a good aluminium free deodorant. I have tried so many and wasted lots of $ trying all sort of deodorants to get the right one for my skin. I find most of the aluminium free deodorants over-compensate with the fragrance which makes me break out in an itchy rash as well. I used Redwin Alpine for ages but now can't buy it in shops or internet. I am currently using Natio which is good but I sweat so much (I normally am pretty sweaty and worse now I am pg). My thermostat is broken! Any suggestions would be great.

I know this was posted ages ago , but was wondering if you found a solution?

I use tea tree deo, its natural and has a regular and a extra strength one. Its the thursday plantation people or what ever they are called, the ones who make the oil. The also do shampoo etc.

There is also available (probably from health shops or some chemists) some sort of deoderant made from a natural crystal?? ...i use to use it years ago, but have seen it around still. You can get it in raw rock form, or shaped into a deo stick or mixed with water in a spray pump. It does not have any added perfume nor smell of its own...

just a couple of suggestions I thought of after reading this post just now

I use MiEssence (One Group) Tahitian Breeze. It's made by the company that makes InLiven... BellyBelly has a thread about their products and links... I'll see if I can find it. Anyhow the one they make is lovely. I also use the crystal stick but it won't stop you sweating, it's just a block of salt that kills bacteria... I don't sweat much and mainly use the crystal stick when I'm at home (not going out for the day)... the crystal stick is also excellent when you are breast feeding a newborn. Because it has no perfume the poor baby doesn't get a facefull of perfume everytime they feed... armpits are very close to a baby's nose when they are feeding... most women seem to forget this... a baby would prefer to smell their mum's natural smell than a ****tail of chemicals. Sorry off topic.

ETA: there is a sticky thread at the top of the skin care forum about MiEssence products... i absolutely love them.

Redwin make one that works. You buy it at the supermarket or even at priceline. Its the same price as other deodorants, no aluminium and it works!!! Its comes in a natural spray pump as well.

Our chemist carries a new line called Natural Instinct which has a natural deodorant. It was not expensive, I bought it on Monday but have not used it yet. We have been using the Redwin one for years and there is also a roll on called Body Choice that you can also get at the supermarket.
If your supermarket doesn't carry aluminium free deodorants ask them to get them in.

this has been a really helpful thread & just wanted to share my experiences on the deos

was really excited to try the MiEssence Tahitian Breeze as it has no nasty chemicals, but it left an uncomfortable sticky feeling

then I tried the Redwin spray, but found the fragrance overwhelming

then I found an alum free deo by Adidas, but was only available on ebay & discontinued by Adidas

and I'd previously tried a crystal stick, but didn't like the hassle of having to go to the bathroom & wet it first

then I found The Body Crystal range & think it's brilliant. I've been using the Botanica roll-on which is available in Coles. It has a large roller ball head so it's easy to apply & maybe because it's a roll-on the crystals have better staying power as the skin is coated. I'd always sweated a lot, but have now realised my body was sweating out the aluminium/chemical laden deos I had always used. And I also make sure I let it dry completely before getting dressed, which I think has helped.

I use a all natural deodorant from sustainable hemp I find the fragrances are pleasant and not too over powering, you do need to re-apply at least once during the day... but that's not such a bad thing when you consider what the aluminium based ones can do to you in the long run

i've been using 'Tea Tree Deodorant' that i got from coles. Its very good... but the fragrance is quite strong so takes a while to get used to.

the other good thing to use is crystal salt stick. You can get them from health food shops or the chemist and they really work well. They have no fragrance and you still sweat, but the salt stops any odour developing because it prevents bacteria from building up.
