    Menevit

FS gave me 3 mths supply of Menevit for DF last year. He has been taking it when he remembers to unfortunately intermittently. It was to improve his which have low motility and low % of normal forms, but with good count.

We have been put down for icsi when we start ivf but i was hoping that the menevit may have helped. Has anyone tried this for male infertility and got a good result? would luv to hear any experiences.

I've heard of it, and have been waiting for it to become available. Can I assume that you are going through repromed? Checking their website shows they are doing a trial with it, and that it will be available in Australia from February 2008. Unfortunately, the menevit website from Bayer itself is still saying that it's unavailable here.

We tried to get onto te trial for it as well, but they unfortunately were full by the time we heard about it.

Are you taking Elevit or some other sort of Folate tablets? Maybe have them at dinner time & get DH's out at the same time, that's how I got Aaron to remember his Vit C & Zinc.

I got it from my FS through Concept Fertility in Perth. Yes it was for the trial. Yep i have to start reminding him to take it when i take my tabs, good idea!

I really hope the Menevit helps as my DF does not smoke or drink and his diet is pretty good. He does not have a job where is exposed to chemicals or anything like that. He has been slowly losing weight over the last 18 mths and he is a good weight now. So I dont know how he could have these sp. probs!! It is a bit frustrating.

Jules, has your DH been checked for a varicocele? Mine has one - resulting in low motility, low count, poor morphology... There's some debate as to whether fixing it will improve sperm at all, but it might be worth checking out.

I looked that up when i heard about it but he doesn't fit the bill because he has a high count (165mill). My FS looked a bit confused about the combination actually, although he has had 3 samples all with similar results.

Id be interested to know if any others have same thing where the count is high but low motility and poor morphology. And possible causes/solutions.

the other thing is, he has had groin injuries in the past from motorcycle accidents and had to see urologists for some time after for treatment. But they never said anything about his injuries affecting his sperm.

However, I dont want to believe that is the cause because then i dont think menevit will make a difference.

    Hi Jules

My FS put DF on Menevit last year as part of a trial. He has been pretty good at taking it - he often gets my vitamins out with mine in the mornings, which is nice. He hasn't had a SA since being on the Menevit so am unsure whether it has helped or not. Prior to being on Menevit he was taking the Blackmore's men's multi vitamin which is supposed to be pretty good. In addition, my FS has been getting him to take 5mg of folic acid, the same that I take each day.

DF's previous SAs have shown high volume, good motility, but poor morphology, which apparently is unusual. The specialist we saw in Melbourne also did a couple of zona binding tests which showed up a poor result first time and then an inconclusive result the second time around. Apparently the zona binding test is not a perfect science but it certainly gave us enough information to know that we would have to do ICSI. My DF has no health problems and hasn't had any injuries in the past, so it is unexplained infertility on his side as well as mine

Since then, DF has also reduced his alcohol intake and lost a bit of weight and generally increased his fitness. When we see our FS again in a few weeks we will talk about whether it might be worth doing another SA to see if there is any change, although if we are staying with ICSI I guess it doesn't really matter.

Sorry I can't give you any more information other than that.

I wish you luck in finding answers.
    xx

    Hi all

When I visited my FS yesterday she told us that Menevit is supposed to be released in Australia in May now. I don't know why it is taking so long to get it on the shelves when there is clearly a market for it!

    HI jules
I am in perth to and my DH did a trial of menevit at fertility North ..we have finished and got results back (to start he was low in everything) and it seems his morophology(my Dh was in motorcycle accident to bloodly things)has increased he was slack in taking it too and he didnt go for retest till 1and 1/2 months after he finished it so who know what the results could be..
But we are doing our first cycle with fert north(did 4 at concept) now and they have recommended that we stay on it....said we could get from chemist but after lots of phonecalls no joy
I asked at the clinic(fertlity North ) and they sell it and not just to their clients...so good luck

    Hi Everyone

Just wondering if you guys have had any good results from the menevit now?

My DH has just starting taking it, he has high amount and good swimming but 0% morphology, so wanted to know if this was actually worth the money!

Would love to hear other peoples experiences to see if they actually made a difference.

    Thanks

    Hi Fig,

Tam reports good results with Menevit in another thread.

    https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...-advice-3.html

My DP has a lot of DNA damage and therefore is taking the Blackmores product but we haven't yet the new test results. Will report.

Thanks red lady, it was interesting reading. My DH has now been on the Menevit for a couple of weeks now. We are getting a SA done in November so will see if it makes a difference.
