How long to keep breastmilk in fridge?

Can anyone tell me what the maximum rec time is for leaving expressed breastmilk in the fridge?? Can it be kept in the fridge a couple of days or does it need to be put in the freezer? Also, What impact does storing breastmilk in the fridge/freezer have on the quality of the milk? I'm assuming the sooner it is consumed the better...?
    Thanks.

JB, it can last in the fridge for up to 3 days. I used to freeze anything that wasn't going to be used within 24 hours though. Always keep it in the coldest part of the fridge - ie the back. I don't think freezing has a significant effect on the quality. Most of the EBM I've ever used was frozen, so I wouldn't worry too much.

I also froze EBM in 40 - 60 ml batches. It takes up more room that way but reduces the wastage. I hated tipping EBM down the sink bcos DS hadn't drunk all that I had warmed up.

Thanks Mantaray!! I'd hate any EBM to go to waste either- I find it alot harder to express milk than I do breastfeeding...
