I just wanted to let everyone know that Marieke Linda joined our family this past Sunday! She was a healthy 7lb 10oz, and 20.5 inches. I was worried that I would have a great deal of back labour, since my back was so sore before she was born, but I had none. The day before she was born, I had a LOT of painful Braxton Hicks contractions, and a very sore back. (It was a long day.) I went into labour at 1:30 Sunday morning, and noticed the "pink show", so I knew it was the real thing - not just more BH. Contractions were 5 minutes apart right from the start, but my water didn't break until my doctor did it for me at 8:00. And baby was here 45 minutes later. No stitches!
Anyways, I want to encourage all you ladies who are still hanging in there - it will be done soon! I hope things go as well for you as they did for me!
One thing I learned this time, that I didn't do with my first - you can talk yourself through a contraction. Your mind actually has a great deal of influence over how you feel. Remind yourself to breathe and relax through every contraction, and also tell yourself that it WILL END, and you WILL BE OK !!! It will help you feel much more in control of things. And, if you can get into water some how - bath, shower, whirlpool tub, anything - DO IT. It is a huge help.
All the best!
