Blood test question....

I had blood taken last Friday to have my hormone levels checked to see if my spotting was being caused by an imbalance....I went home and POAS and that was my 1st BFP.

This was at 9DPO....anyhow, my friend is the nurse who took my blood, so today she rang pathology to have them check for HCG in the sample they still had.

It detected negative.

We were chatting and were wondering if perhaps because the sample was 4-5 days old, whether this could effect it?

Could 9DPO have been too early?

Hmmmm just wondering why a pregnancy test would detect it and not a blood test.

I think for them to say a blood test is a positvie it has to be over 25 so if your HCG levels at that time where below that then they will not confirm it as a pregnancy.

I'm not sure if all Dr's do it the same way but that is what my Dr told me.

Maybe get them to take your bloods again to be sure what is going on.

Yeah, I'd ask for a repeat test too I think, just to be on the safe side.

I did the one that day....an hour after the blood was taken, and it was feint BFP....and 5 BFP's ranging from feint to not quite dark since then.

Still go and have another blood test done so you are 100% sure what is going on.

Did you use the same brand of test ??

I would definitley go and have another blood test done as they are a lot more accurate than a HPT.

Just maybe your levels weren't quite high enough to detect it but if you have another one done your levels would've probably doubled if you are pg.

Just checked my chart, and I did the HPT the day AFTER the blood test.

Silly me.

chrissy - congrats honey - go and get another BT - i wouldn't have implanted this time till 9DPO so it wouldn't have shown up on the BT - so yeah go get another and GOOD LUCK

OK girls,

My blood test came back with a HCG level of 12 on 14DPO

SO...my pregnancy was not confirmed...my results had "to test again in 2 days time' on it.

So i guess I have to wait and see if pumpkin is going to stick nice and good!

At least its gone from 'undetected' to a level of 12.
