    Sleeping issues after illness

My bub is about 7.5 months old. Things had been going really well, she was having two sleeps a day and sleeping through at night time. She was self settling often going off to sleep without a sound. But about 6 weeks ago she developed a nasty cold and then got a bout of croup. The cold hung around for most of that time but has now cleared up (bar a very slight sniffle). So now, even though she's mostly well she's taking a long time to settle during the day (often crying herself to sleep) and having long periods of being awake at night. During the night she's often awake for a few hours at a time crying on and off (sometimes for quite awhile) and chatting to herself - it's as if she's forgotten how to sleep! We've tried leaving her to cry, feeding her, rocking her to sleep, you name it. Do you think it's just that she's out of routine after such a long period of being unsettled or should I be concerned that she's still not well?

If you're concerned about her physical health you should take her to your GP to ensure there's no illness remaining. But it's probably just a growth period she's going through... perhaps she just needs extra comfort from her Mummy right now? My two both went through stages of needing more reassurance and closer contact.
