Question My baby poking out his tongue at 8 weeks

    Hi everyone,

For the past couple of days I've noticed that my bubs has been poking out his tongue quite frequently. Is this some sort of sign....??
He has bee diagnosed with reflux a week ago and is on S26 AR formula. Seems to work as he hardly vomits now. But he pokes his tongue out quite a bit just after a feed and then every once in a while about an hour or 2 after the feed. Is this because he has wind?
He never used to do this and now that he just started to....is a bit strange for an 8 week old!

Also, how long do I keep using the AR formula? I tried normal S26 yesterday and he wasn't a happy baby at all - kept crying and spitting up the milk - so switched back to AR. Just wondering how long do I carry on with the AR....

Any answers would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

i have heaps of photos of DD around this age poking out her tongue.
I wouldnt say it is a sign of anything other than bub getting to know his mouth and body!

    Hi guys,

Perfectly normal, its their first attempt at communication
you can play and your bubba will take turns at poking out their tounge

    It all good!

Most new babies will copy you when you poke your toungue out. It's another one of their reflexes I think.

Juliette is doing this as well & does it moreso when she is "talking" in her own little language. I think it's how they try to talk, they see us moving our tongues about when we talk so they are learning that they have to move their tongues around too.

Nakita has been stcking her tongue out for months (yes she is only three weeks old), in one US in my OB's office she was licking her umbilical cord, we have a 3d photo @ 29 weeks with her eyes open a stcking out her tongue, and now that she is here she does it a lot - no wonder we saw it on scans!! Not necessarily at food time either! You can click on my blog link in my sig, there are a lot of photos with that tongue poking out!!

Tiahna has been doing this for weeks now, I think its the start of communication also...

She also licks all over her hands when she's tired.

    Good luck.
