    Coughs

both my almost 3 year old son and 8 month old Daughter have a cough. It seems to only hit in the middle of the night of course..

I use a humidifier in the bedroom for DD and that does ok but Ds just wakes up coughing and coughing..

I don't use over the counter cough mixtures except for a semi natural one from Woolies.. It has Thyme and honey in it (only for Ds3) I don't use anything for DD

anyways what other natural remedies do you use for your childrens coughs?

I should mention they have both been to the Drs and it is a virus they have..

I used chamomile tea with honey or warm orange/lemon & honey drinks. Also i found that even with the humidifier if the air is cool Alex coughs more so actually found keeping his room warm rather than moist helped. Oh and lots of water.

So is chamomile tea ok for Olivia to drink? I can't imagine little miss fuss pot drinking that as she is still refusing those solids..

i know this might sound funny but it works..rub a generous amount of vicks vapourub baby balsam on the bottom of each foot before going to bed and put cotton socks on. its ment to stop nightime coughing, i was abit hesitant at first lol but it really did work for my DD

and does it have to be the baby vicks? I have only got the adult vicks here..

Otherwise I might get Dh to go get some after work

for your DD i would definatly use the baby one as i think the normal recommends not to use under 2 years, ive got the baby one and that is suitable for upto 5 years so you can use it for your DS too

let me know how you go

We've had this for months, and finally the doctor has given us something that works !

Mind you, the doc *did* say Pip has/had "bronchiolitis" and prescribed a regime of ventalin (to open the airways) and cortisone (to boost the circadian rhythm). It's really worked for us. But again, that's under medical care ...
