I dont know what else to try with dd for breakfast and it doesnt seem to matter if i give her her milk before during or after breakfast. I have tried - toast with various spreads, crumpets, weetbix, porridge, rice cereal, cereals with tin pear added, bolied eggs.
She will eat- cruskits with vegemite and she will have yoghurt. To me this is a snack and not breakfast..the main meal of the day. A friend suggested that maybe she is not a breakfast person... i dont agree with this as i am trying to teach her good eating habits, which doesnt include skipping breakfast. I give her breakfast at the same time each morning, keeping the same routine as childcare which she attends 3 times a week.
Does anyone pleaseeeee have any suggestions??
Haved you tried rice? My DS loves it as a change and you can serve it (just a few suggestions) plain, with fruit or even with a little chicken broth & some vegies
Are Mez, they're tough aren't they?
What do they give her at CC?...though that doesn't always work as Darcy has toast at CC and won't eat it at home.
Fruit cut into yoghurt?
Smoothie? can crush a weetbix in there...
Pancakes?
French toast?
Baked beans with toast dippers?
hmmm I'll try and think of what else we have
What other foods does she eat? There is no reason you have to give her 'breakfast' types of foods. My kids will often have chicken or veggie soup in winter for brekky.
What about scrabled eggs? My DD love scarmbled eggs but won't eat any other kind of eggs, except the occaisional omlette. I often put a little chopped bacon or grated cheese into it too.
She also loves tinned spaghetti, not the most nutritional breaky, but something that she'll eat if all else fails.
Some fruit or savoury homemade muffins.
Thanks everyone! I never would have thought to give her non brekky foods. Will try all of those suggestions and see how she goes. At cc she eats rice cereal which is why i got some for home as well. Thanks again
my DS has been a fussy eater, and most of his meals can be hit or miss. But, as an alternative to rice cereal, I've tried Rice Porridge ( I know - HUGE difference), which he doesn't mind . It's in the health food section of my Safeway, I think the brand is Lowan, and it's flavoured with sultanas, dried apple, peaches & apricots. Easy to prepare, 1/4 cup of the cereal to roughly 1/2 cup water, minute in the microwave, stir, then about 30 seconds more. I tend to soak it for a little while before I nuke it, as it makes the texture a bit smoother, but not a mandatory step. But I'm also with the other girls - whatever they'll eat, even if it's not our conventional idea of breakfast will do the trick.
