sleeping directly on sheep skin in cot - safe?

i have just put dd down to sleep in her cot directly onto sheepskin.

Is this safe?
Should i have it under the sheet

I thought it would be nice and warm for her to snuggle into?

TO be honest I ahve no idea what SIDS recommends in this but we have had DD on hers since about 7 1/2 months - she's 10 months now. I don't see an issue as she can roll and move her head easily but also it's not too fluffy IYKWIM - she doesn't sink into it like she might a big loose blanket or teddy. Be interested to see though! hmm feeling bit guilty right now!

DD is 13.5 months. i guess i thought it would be ok.
She is asleep now... i hope it is fine as i woul dhate to wake her.
And she is the same- can turn her head etc

It's not recommended for newborns because they can suffocate on the sheep skin, but your DD is older and as you say can move her head so I can't see a problem? I could be wrong?

Hi,
I was checking the sids guidelines recently and im pretty sure it is not recommended.
Double check the site just to be sure, i think theres a section on FAQs for sleeping guidelines. But she is much older and prob able to turn her head and the risk is greatly reduced (if any??)

ive put it under her sheet now. so the fibres arent directly in her face.
SHe had the best night sleep last night though! lol
