Hi ladies, it's been a while since i posted on BB, and this is the first time in the endometriosis forum, so hello to all! What i really need right now is a pick-me-up!
I would love to hear from everyone who has fallen preg naturally, even after endo has been diagnosed. I need to focus on success stories, so i can tell my body/mind that it can happen!
I had a lap in June '07, and medium grade endo was discovered (and then removed). This was a surprise, as i did not have any major indicators of endo, but atleast now we know something that could be affecting our ability to fall preg. Am currently seeing a naturopath, and having regular acupuncture, and have had an improvement in my cycles... so was hoping for an extra boost of positive vibes with some success stories from others! Thanks for reading my post
I can give you 4 success stories I had a lap, hysteroscopy and a D&C in 99. Our first baby was a lovely surprise, conceived in late June 00 after being off Duphaston for one month, which I had been on since the surgery, we went on to have another 3 babies - all conceived in the first month of trying. So it can happen and it will happen for you too!
i was diagnosed with endo in 2004 after a recent miscarriage. didnt have the lap (cancelled last minute...not a brave sort!).
changed my diet (ie avoided caffeine around O and AF etc etc...found info on the endo association website).
in 2004/5 DH and i started to TTC. we were told that i couldnt conceive naturally (IVF was given as our only option). but we thought what they hey! cant hurt!
after about 18 months of nothing happening and endo getting really bad, headed off to see a OB/GYN who specialised in homeopathy. had a full health history taken (took close to 3 hours!) and was sent home with a bag of goodies.
in one cycle had my first 'normal' AF and by the next was pregnant with Leila.
Thanks Cassius2 and Trillian - so good to hear, i'm trying to focus on positive stories! My naturopath has me on a new herbal tonic, quite specific for my needs, and my last period was a real improvement - so i've got my fingers and toes crossed for a little surprise soon!
Keep the success stories coming in girls! Best wishes x
Another success story here...had lap and hysteroscopy in March 05, diagnosed with severe endo, was told I'd never conceive naturally because both my tubes were blocked and IVF would be about 30% chance.
Three years later without intentionally trying, fell pregnant while galavanting around Europe and now have my little miracle baby Unexpected but very welcome surprise
Another success story here. I didn't know I had Endo until it was discovered through a lap. I had been trying to get pregnant for over 12 months and saw a brilliant Fertility Specialist as part of the process of finding out why I wasn't falling pregnant I went in for a lap in Feb 06.
They found I was riddled with endo. The endo had adhered by bowel to my ovaries. I had to have another lap with a bowel surgeon as well, as I need a small bowel resection as well.
This surgery was successful and completed in April 06. I was given six months to given get pregnant naturally before trying IVF. I was pregnant by August 06. I gave birth to a beautiful healthy girl almost 12 months exactly after the last lap.
I don't think I appreciated how bad the endo was until I saw my fertility specialist and OB(who assist in the operation). They were both very proud of their work!!!
When I went to see my fertility specialist after the April lap, he said now you have six months to pregnant naturally and given they can't guarantee that the endo won't come back, breastfeed for six months then get pregnant again. I followed those instructions exactly and I am now expecting my 2nd child in Nov 08.
Hi, I've had success too. After TTC for 12 months I went to a FS who did a lap and removed endo. I asked if we could TTC naturally, and basically the FS said you can, but when you've finished trying, come back and do IVF. Hm not too encouraging.
Anyway, we saw a naturopath who put both of us on different concoctions. DH was taking vitamins with antioxidents which may have helped him. What I took seemed to make me worse if anything with my endo symptoms and irritable bowel.
Anyway, we did IVF (DHs vitamins may have helped from his side), I got preg, but then once I cut back on BF and AF started again, I got pregnant naturally after just two months.
I think what helped me concieve naturally, was that I was so much more relaxed than when I TTC #1. I really think the stress can get in the way of TTC, so anything you can do to cut back on stress will help. Try and take care of yourself. I found yoga helped me relax, and we set a goal of going on a holiday if IVF didn't work (when TTC #1) so that we would have something to look forward to. I feel for you, because I know how stressful and depressing infertility can be. I used to have tears in my eyes everytime I went past the baby items isle at the supermarket, and I cried for two days straight when a friend of mine got pg by accident. Don't give up hope. Keep trying, and take care. I hope your baby dreams come true soon.
I have 2 friends who were diagnosed with endo.
Both have a 4 year old now. One has also fallen preg since, but had a missed m/c & the other is planning for her 2nd soon.
Neither of them had trouble falling preg. All 3 were actually oopsie babies.
You'll get there. Hope its soon!
They are great success stories! Thanks everyone! That has really helped me make the decision and get the lap done and get it over with.. then to hopefully move on and get pregnant!
Just to build you confidence up a little more... here's another success story!
I was booked in for a Lap last July, after having AF problems for a long time, only to discover I was pg in June. That unfortunately ended in a m/c. I rescheduled the Lap for October, where i find out that I had severe endo and to be told i'd struggle to conceive naturally. I had it removed, and was told to go onto Zoladex, which puts you into menopause for 6 months, then to think about TCC.
I got a second opinion and decided i didn't want medication, so I started getting acupuncture in Feb this year. I did that for about 3 months, saw a little improvement. DP and I had decided we'd TTC at the end of this year, only to fall pregnant in May! I'm now 18 1/2 weeks! I still have to pinch myself... I really thought i'd have a massive battle on my hands to conceive.
One thing I do believe though is that endo can cause some issues when pg. I have crampy period like pain on most days, and i've had bleeding from 8weeks till about a week and a half ago. Everything has been fine though. So don't stress (too much!) if you get bleeding when pg.

My friend was diagnosed with endo and told it would be very hard for her to have littlies and as I type this she's in labour!! Neveah was an and Bekki wouldnt believe she was pregnant til 6 months in! It happens good luck!
Nother success story for you girls.
I have struggled with severe endo, cysts and depression for the last 10yrs TTC. We have just fallen pregnant. I have had one surgery back many years ago to have a large grapefruit cyst removed when they found extensive endo. I opted not to go down the medical treatment route and concentrated on my health naturally- body and spiritual. We have made it through to the other side finally. The pain and heartache is there but in the past now and we expect our baby in July 2009.
Good luck everyone and don't give up the search for solutions. They are different for everyone and a miracle is possible. If anyone needs to contact me to talk more, please do.
Love to you all HM xoxoxo
From the time I had my lap for extensive Endo I was pregnant within 11 months with my son, was pregnant with twins (that I miscarried) with just three months TTC,and then was pregnant with my daughter two months after the miscarriage finally finished. I also have three friends with Endo who hav all had two children each after their Laps. So there are lots of success stories out there.
I wish you all the best.
And a quick note to Hippy Mum, I have replied to you a while ago now and have been following your story and I have to say I'm over the moon with your news. Congratulations it's awesome!!!!! Roll on July, enjoy your pregnancy!
