Q. about 4d ultrasound pics

Hi all,

I had my 4d ultrasound pics done and on one of the pictures, which was the only facial shot we got it looks like part of her nose is missing. I am having another ultrasound on Thursday to try and get some more facial pics, but my question is has anyone had a similar thing happen? All the other pics look ok, just that one. I have some pics in the gallery - Third Tri Ultrasound pics if you want to have a look. I really hope nothing is wrong with her nose, I guess I am just being a worry wart again, but maybe someone has had one done and experienced the same thing and all was ok.

lol. no nothing will be wrong with her nose. It can also happen if they ange it wrong toward her head, can look like a huge chunk out of her head is missing. I would say its just the way the scan was. Meaning.. ur u/s lady might have gone down like a mm to low and the scanner might have looked a little up bubs nose which can make it look like abits missing. If the point it right up her nose its scary coz it actually looks like she has no nose!!!! I hope that made sense.. i had a look at ur scan pics and there is NOTHING wrong with her nose

no there is nothing wrong with her nose! :-) if there was they would have told you. its just that she may have had her nose jammed up against the placenta which would make it appear like that. there needs to be a certain amount of liquid between in front of the babys face for them to get a nice full shot. :-)

Hollye - Ohh thanks hun for giving me something to think about. I guess with all the problems that we have faced with this one, I just cant help but worry. As I said all the other pics were really good, yet this one for some reason as my kids put it scarey... Yet I know when we got thie face on picture it was so quick the way she turned her head that I thought it was because she moved so quickly and the image got distorted. She really wasnt in the mood for photos!!!! lol.

Hollo - Well the u/s I had done was for fun only it wasnt a medical one. I guess if it was a medical one they probably would have made a big deal out of it and stressed me out big time like they have thru out this pgcy. Thankyou too hun.

cheryl- next time watch ur u/s closley. u will see when ur bub moves or the scanner moves it can look like she has body parts missing.. its so funny to see. My friend has her 4d pics on a dvd and i swear in one bit her bub only has half a head!!!

Hollye - I have the ultrasound DVD and to really make sense of it you do have to watch it carefully. Yet it is so amazing. It is only that with the probe moving trying to get focus and then bub moving as well the focus gets distorted. I am going to watch it again soon. hehehe

Hon, there is nothing wrong with her little nose!!!. At my 4d with Kane, a problem like that is VERY easy to detect!!! Trust me!!!

For some shots, they do go deeper, and it looks like parts are missing, but they are really scanning "through" stuff, to check deeper. Also the angles are funny, and in poor Kanes, it looks like he has a lot more problems than a cleft lip and palate!!!

I agree it is definately the type of shot hun, in my gallery of our little spunk in one of htem he looks like he has no fingers and his nose looks a bit weird too.... I think it's just the angle they take it on. and she is a cutie! Don't stress!

Thanks Lovelies. I was worried, but then they came the following week and redid the scan. I had asked him why on some shots it looks like something is missing and he said sometimes they may be pressed up against the placenta or something, as if leaning against a window and that can make it look like that, also if the baby is outside the box they use for the 4d picture parts can look like they are missing. Yet her photos turned out heaps better that day than the previous week, which was such a relief. Also her nose looked really cute. Thankyou for your thoughts, I really appreciate it.
