Anyone had Shingles or any kind of herpes and taken Aciclovir while UTD?

Hi there i have had a reoccurance of Shingles around my right eye.
Generally in pregnancy they don't treat the virus, EXCEPT if it is around they eyes, as there is a risk of your sight being effected.
Now, the RWH-melb, as well as the lovely Rodney from drug info at Monash say it is fine to take this Aciclovir. However it is a Category B3 drug (Not much testing on humans and therefore not really recommended, particularly in the first trimester. I'm 8 weeks)
So it makes me really nervous.
Just wondering, if by chance, anyone else has had to have it during their pregnancy. Just looking for reassurance really.......

    Thanks Raven and AJP.
Spoke with him J, and they do give it to pregnant women, but only in extreme circumstances where the potential benefit outweights the potential risk.
Went to Opthamologist this morning, he is confident the eyeball is clear. Taking antivirals ony halves the risk of it involving the eye. For eg at the moment there is a 30% chance of eyeball involovement, taking meds reduces this to 15%. So I'm not taking the meds and just riding it out. (usual approach for pregnant women) Fingers crossed it stays on the skin and the part of the nerve attached to the eye is not effected.
Loads of couch time and plenty of sleep. Lucky this little 'un is sleeping well.

Poor DH, it's his birthday tomorrow and we were going to go away for the weekend either skiing or surfing. But looks like he is in for a weekend at home! He's already vacuumed, cleaned the kitchen and done some washing this morning, what a champ!

Thanks again for thinking of me.
