    Question Slow rising HCG Levels

    Hi all...
I am new to the site and a little worried, I am hoping people may be able to share their experiences with me.
I am 3-4 weeks pregnant after a considerable amount of time trying. I had my first blood test a week and a half ago and my HCG level was 29. Yesterday I received the another result where the level was 128. My doctor has me very worried as she feels it is not rising or doubling enough. I have another test next week.
I am also having some pain in my left shoulder but no stomach pain, I am worried it might be an ectopic pregnancy, has anyone had shoulder pain and gone on the have a safe and healthy pregnancy?

Hi there and welcome to BB, i'm sure everyone will make you feel more than welcome. We are all really friendly.
I can't help with the ectopic preg but if your sleeping on your left side it could be just sore (i get it all the time), with HCG levels i wouldnt worry to much, most important thing you can do in preg is try and relax and minimise stress. My HCG levels with #1 were always pretty low/below average and i barely felt pregnant but she came out being a healthy baby weigh 8pound12. Give it a couple of weeks and see how it goes, good luck and all the best.

How far apart were the two blood tests?

I think that 4 weeks pregnant is too early for any signs of an ectopic to show up, if it would give you peace of mind, request an ultrasond (they'll need to wait until 5 weeks to see the baby and 6 weeks to see the heartbeat though). Hcg levels are strange things and they are different for each woman and each baby.

Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

I had shoulder pain in the early part of my last pregnancy and worried about ectopic but it turned out to just be shoulder pain. Your HCG results to appear to be rising slower than they should be but I've seen it happen with some ladies who go on to have normal pregnancies.

Thanks so much for helping to relieve my worries. I had another blood test this morning and should get results on Monday.. *fingers crossed*
Another new development is morning sickness... to be honest I was quite happy to get it and feel like things are normal, I suppose that feeling will wear off pretty soon!

Believe it or not m/s is a good sign, they say the more symptoms and the severity is dependant upon your hormones, ie- lots of hormones = lots of symptoms etc etc.
