I have figured that I have thrush in/on my nipples and my baby has in it her mouth. She is fussying like crazy at BF time. I am putting on Daktarin creme on Nipples and Baby is having Nilstat oral drops. Anybody got better suggestion as BF is becoming increasingly painful and I have developed blisters.
One of the best things to do is for you to take probiotics to recolonise the good bacteria in your gut - this will pass on to your little one through your breastmilk, and prevents 'thrush' throughout the body. You can get probiotics from health food shops and pharmacies. Reducing your intake of refined carbohydrates (esp. white flour products and sugar) and yeast is also a step in the right direction. As for your nipples, is is really important to keep them as dry as possible in between feeds, and try to expose them to some sunlight (I know this sounds quite strange, but it works really well to speed up the healing process). I usually recommend homeopathic medicines to really clear up candida (thrush), so if you can get to a Homeopath I'm sure it would be worthwhile.
