Feeb - we started DD on this yesterday, the difference is amazing. The recommended 5-10 drops is approximately .3ml

Love this stuff Used it for all my kids..

use your syringe and fill it up half way.. then drop it slowly into the lid or onto a teaspoon. How ever many drops you are supposed to give.. Then empty the syringe then refill it with the measured out stuff.. then write that on the bottle for future refernce

I purchased this for my DD's colic... Works great i also find if you gice too much the only effect it has has is farting heaps or makes her poop a little runnier and smellier...

It works for the wind and also settles the tummy down. The taste my DD hates so i mis a small amount with some EBM and use the syringe and give it that way... I brought a dropper (glass @ $11) but found it easier just to use the syringe and suck a little bit up... Depends on how old but we just started out with a small amount and gave more if needed.
With the chucking up after a feed could be reflux. My DD has colic and reflux- the pain from the burning acid coming up wakes her up and makes her scream and arch her back... Might help to get checked for reflux...a small dose of zantac for my DD helps out heaps...
    Good luck.

    Infants Friend

I've been giving DS3 (3 weeks) Infants Friend for the last 2 weeks. He's been really grunty and pulls his legs up. At first I thought silent reflux, but he usually grunts and then farts so I'm thinking more wind pain. Anyway, we've been giving him Infants friend and I don't know whether its helping.

I gave it to him tonight and a bit dribbled down the side of his face. It dried white and I wiped it off and it left a red mark. I'm stressing that if it does that to his skin, whats it doing to his insides? (DS2 is Anaphylactic to dairy and a fair indication that he'll react to something is by doing a skin test)

I googled it and i've read that it can cause a skin irritation if it dribbles onto skin, but there is nothing about whether I should stop using it. I probably would, but I'm wondering if he's so unsettled because we've been giving him the infants friend and its what causing the discomfit.

I don't know what I'm asking here. I guess I'm looking to see if anyone has had the same experience and if you've stopped using it and its help.

Ds has had multiple wind issues and infants friend was the least helpful. We have tried gripe water and infacol which have done wonders. He is also allergic to dairy and had the first sleep longer than 45 minutes when we gave him some gripe water at 4 weeks old. Good luck and pm if you need some more info.

I was just about to post the exact same thing!

I tried giving some to DS1 when he was a baby and it touched his cheek and went bright red straight away.
Now 5 years later I had totally forgotten about that incident and went to give it to DD and most went in her mouth and some dribbled down her cheek and again bright red!
The colour got darker and the faded to nothing.

So I would like to know if it does anything also? Doesn't sound right does it!

Well, it worked wonders in our house, so I don't know.
Also, I found two different gripe waters, but only one was any use here

Yep the gripe water with a purple label is useless, go with the white label, I think it's alcohol free ( where the other one has an element of alcohol in it)

Or you could try to Brauers teething and colic relief which is fantastic! My DS2 used to get horrible reflux and after a while the infants friend stopped working but the brauers was brilliant.

Thanks for the replies. I'll get some gripe water today. We had a bad night last night. He's been on a probiotic for 4 days now and we've seen a bit of an improvement but I think I'm going to have to give up all dairy like I did with DS2. Poor little guy was really refluxy yesterday after me having cheese on Saturday. Thats the only thing I can pin point as something that I did different.

When my 2 were bubs, the chemist steered me away from Gripe Water, he actually said he's surprised they are still allowed to sell it due to the alcohol content. I'm not sure why your bubs are having a skin reaction to Infant's Friend, but it is apparently much more gentle than Gripe Water.

I'm not sure I'd be giving any child suspected of having reflux/silent reflux anything that helps bring up wind, it would exacerbate the reflux
