My nephew is small for his age and although I don't know the full details, a doctor has mentioned prescribing growth hormones for him.
His diet is appalling and it is hard not to conclude that this is restricting his growth but I don't know if the doctors know this. Since the age of about three, he has only eaten hot chips and cheese sandwiches. I won't go into the reasons for this as I will get far too angry and I may break my keyboard BUT I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about this topic.
Fiona, big hugs hun. This must be so hard on you, but your nephew is lucky to have an auntie who cares so much.
I don't know much about these things, but my guess is that they wouldn't prescribe the hormones lightly. I would like to think that they would take a full history and ask about diet etc. Also a bt, which would surely show that he was low in minerals and vitamins, would be a huge hint that there are dietary problems. So perhaps he really is in need of the hormones? Is there anyway you can subtley ask for more details so that you can research it more yourself?
Best of luck, I hope that you get some answers and that your nephew is ok.
