Hi, my DS who is almost 2. can be so unsocialable.
This morn at a friends house, we had only been there for like 20mins, and he greabs his shoes and says home.. my friend has a little boy about 8 mnths older, they dont play together as such but acknowledge what the other is doing, offer food to each other etc.. but when i said no, and wouldnt put shoes on him, or my shoes on, he thru the biggest tanty. screaming,. wow was it embarrasing.. has this happened to anyone else.. i soon left., but waited a little while.. wow i hope he grows out of this. if ever. !
It's hard sometimes when our 2YO's get an idea in their head and that's all they want. I'm sure it's not that your DS is not socialable, just that he's being a 2YO who wants what he wants and now!!!
He will grow out of it (sorry, I had to laugh when I had an image of a 15YO boy grabbing his mum's shoes and saying 'home!!!! Now!!!' and chucking a tanty when he didn't get his own way). I think the best way to deal with it is to just keep your sense of humor about you, and remember that this too shall pass. And don't worry about it, I'm sure just about every mother has had many similar experiences and would sympathise with you.
