Question Dropping to 1 day sleep...eeeek....

After shamelessly bragging the other day to my mum how much I love the fact that Izzy still sleeps for 2 hours in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon, she has since then, for the last week only slept for an hour or so in the morning, if that! Afternoon naps are touch and go - generally she won't go down anymore - sometimes will eventually settle for 40 mins or so, making me think she is ready for one nap!

So how do we do this!!??
She wakes at around 630, has her brekky at around 730-8 (cereal) then some toast at around 930-10ish. If we put her down at say 11-1(optimistically thinking she will nap for 2 hours! ) then she will miss lunch? Or do we keep her up til 12ish give her lunch then put her down?

    Any help would be grand!
    TIA

With Genevieve we started giving her lunch at 11am and then putting her down at 11.30. Then she would have agood afternoon tea when she woke up. After a few weeks we were able to stretch her out a bit longer and fed her at 11.30 and bed at 12. Now she has lunch about 12 and goes down between 1 and 1.30.

You could try giving her breakfast a bit earlier then morning tea slightly earlier.

    Tan,

Would it be too late for her to lunch at 1pm? If she does sleep til 12.30-1 then you could give her lunch when she wakes up. I do that with DD on the few occasions where she has had a late morning/ early arvo nap.

Good luck with the impending arrival too, hope you get that VBAC!

DS is the same now. We give him four bigger meals rather than three big meals. So he might have a large MT and a large AT but no real lunch. As long as they still get enough then she will be fine.

I just make sure Charlie is well fed, I don't really look at it as lunch, morning tea etc & so on IYKWIM. I just make sure, depending on what time he's gotten up (he's not at all consistent), he's had breakfast, milk if wanted & a snack or two. Then if he can hold off til 11.30 - 12 I give yoghurt or sandwich then so he's nice & full. Then he'll sleep til around 2ish sometimes way longer & in bed again at 7pm. I don't like to keep Charlie up too long to have a designated lunch time as often it will back fire & he will sleep less, not go down or sleep way too long & not go down well at night. If he misses a big meal I just offer it when he wakes and then he'll have tea a little later.
?harlie is hungry all of the time, so he tends to snack all through the day as he wants it....I figure as he gets older he'll learn the different meals & at what time. I'm not too fussed on it atm. Don't know if that helped.

we had issues to start with, sophie would only sleep 35-40 mins! drove me insane! i then introduced a 200ml bottle and she started to sleep 1-1.5 hrs, we had issues the past 3 weeeks with her not going down or taking 90 mins to go down! i introduced a pillow and back to sleeping better!
we have lunch at 11.30 change nappy, milk then bed by 12pm, i do the same thing everyday so she knows wat the go is!!
    goodluck!

We are still at 2 naps but I find that DD sleeps so much better on a full tummy. So I would probably try giving her lunch at 12 and then sleep after that? Good luck!

When I changed my DS (13.5 mths) to 1 sleep, I dropped his morning sleep and then put him to bed after lunch at 12:30pm. He will usually sleep for a couple of hours. We had a few days of whinging at morning sleep time so we would go out for the morning to keep him occupied even if it was just to the park or the supermarket or out into the back yard. He soon got used to the new routine.
I knew he was ready to go to one sleep because he would take ages to settle for his arvo sleep, when before he would just go down easily. I chose arvo sleeps to coincide with DD's (2.5 yrs) arvo sleep. This way I at least get 1 hour of piece to myself a day.
