    Family Tax benefit payment

Just a quick question - do you get a statement or letter from the Family tax office detailing your lump sum payment? It's just that DH had an amount put in his bank acc a week or two ago, and it just says ATO payment. I am a bit of a sticky beak and wanted to see exactly what we got back for tax and what was FT payment.

You will get a letter letting you know what the money was for. I have no idea how long it takes for the letter to arrive though.

If it said ATO then it would just be ATO... FTB is paid as a separate payment (well ours was... there from 2 different departments.

Jess - I think it was tax return and FTB lump sum payment combined because it's a bigger amount than what DH was due to get back in tax.

It would sat FTB reconciliation or something similar on the statement. Things usually get paid into my account before I get the letter!

if the ATO payment has come back higher, it might include FTB lump sum. you'll get a notice of assessment from ATO saying what amount was family tax benefit reconcilliation. you'll also get a letter from FAO saying what your annual amount was, and what amount was paid via ATO
