I used centrelinks online services to lodge my claim for FTA&B a week and a half ago and then dropped in last Monday with all the paperwork they needed (it made me giggle though that they wanted proof that I arrived in Australia from the UK...um Im standing in your office hmmm) anyway after saying that it can take up to 28 days to process they did it in a week...so well done in my books.
Also when i was in there one of the counter staff had a very unpleasant young women yelling every swear word at her and punching the counter and the staff member stayed so calm and pleasant and kept trying to help her out. I know i'll be keeping that picture in my mind when i deal with them and definately cut them a little slack if i ever have a problem.
TBH ive never really had a prob with them. Whilst i find the wait on the phone frustrating (i want my answers NOW !! LOL), i have always found my payments around tax time or just in general have always been prompt. If i had had a problem, i usually get someone whos nice enough to listen to me ramble on, and try to resolve the problem.
To be honest, I have never had any problems with Centrelink or the FAO. They have always processed stuff for me really quickly and I've never been on the receiving end of their stuff ups. I was also super impressed with how fast I recieved my FTB lump sum. I put in my tax return, and a week later had recieved both my tax refund and my FTB & supplement + CCB + CCTR.
I've had endless problems with centrelink. They cancelled my soul parenting pension because someone had accidentally added to my file that my daughter was out of my care, wtf? They didn't send a letter to tell me either, I just stopped recieving payments.
