Have you made your own carrier/sling?

Just wondering if anyone has made their own carrier or slings as I am looking to make my own because there are so many I want it would be too expensive to buy them all.

Did you use a pattern? Which one?
    What materials did you use?
    How do you find it?

    Hi Skittle Bug,

    I have mad to slings/carriers.

First one was a ring sling that. I brought a peice of cotton that was 110 wide and 1.5 long and then folded the edges in as the material is light weight to make strong side runners untill the material was 50cm wide. Sewed them down then hemmed one end put rings on and then follded it over and stiched a recctangel then diagnal to make sure it was strong and the hemmed the other end works great.

Second one was a gross between a wrap and the mai tai. If you google how to make a mai tai there are heaps of instructions. Word of warning make sure the fabric you use for the straps is not to streachy though.

Also if you look at www(dot)mamatoto(dot)org you will find heaps to.

I love the mai tai i have made it holds bub realy well and no wear near as hard as tying on a wrap. She likes it and has started to face out in it now to.

    Happy carrier making.

Funny you ask Sal - I just finished making my first tonight!! Have a look at this thread here

Most of these patterns in the link in my other thread are used commercially so they are all tried and tested - they are the bomb.
