I am meeting my Birth Family on the week-end for the first time and I would like to bring a few gifts for my new nieces and nephews. The nieces were easy, I got them each a sliver necklace, and one of my nephews is only 6 months so he was easy too, but I'm having trouble coming up with a gift for my other nephew who is 10. I don't have any experience with older kids and what they might like so any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. It has to be compact too as it's a long plane ride and I'm only taking one suitcase to share with DS for the 10 days we'll be gone.
Wow how exciting for you to be meeting your birth family! Hope it all goes well for you, good luck.
On the gifts front I have an 11yr old an an almost 10yr old myself so I have a bit of experience in this field. Of course it all depends on how much you want to spend and im thinking its not too much so lego is always a winner. They have heaps of little box sets they can make up. Anything Star wars is a winner in my house, as is Transformers. Bionicles is another sure fire hit. My older son is very much into music at the moment so a cheap mp3 player would be an idea if you didnt want to go the toy way. But I have to say that thats all they are really interested in at this stage.
Anyway hope this helps a bit an again good luck x
Oh thank-you for the ideas so quickly. My budget is $30 CAN (though not set in stone) so if i can find a cheap mp3 player that'd be great. I hope he doesn't have one already though.
I like the lego idea too but since the girls necklaces are ones they can continue to wear as they get older the mp3 player is a great idea as he won't "outgrow" it so fast...that is if it lasts lol
I'm going shopping Friday but I'm going to go look at prices online and see what's available. Thanks!
