I thought I was doing okay - eating well enough for this pregnancy. Now, looking at the ripped shreds of what used to be a full fruit tingles packet, I'm not so sure. What do you think?
I always get some fruit - 2-3 serves, but I think I'm pretty low with my vegies. I probably only have 1-2 serves of vegies a day, usually with my night time meal - and certainly not all the time. I've been trying to get enough calcium, but I struggle with that.I'm finding the easiest way is to keep plenty of chocolate milk on hand - but then there's all the extra sugar...
I try and have eggs for lunch a few times a week, and have meat most nights for tea. I know I'm good with breakfast - I tend to have a whole grain cereal and a glass of juice.
I'm also taking Blackmores Pregnancy Gold. I drink an okay amount of water, but could drink more.
So, that's the good stuff... my main concern is that I'm having too much sugar. I'm already getting plenty from the chocolate milk, but then I always seem to be snacking on chocolate. I've managed to give up fast food (haven't even felt like eating it), and I don't drink soft drink - but chocolate is always there... always in the pantry. Some days I might only eat a few rows of a block - other days I can almost eat the whole block .
I suppose what I'm wondering is - does this sound like too much sugar (for the baby), and does it sound like I'm getting enough nutrients, etc for the baby. I'm more concerned about the baby's health than my own.
Sounds like you are one of the lucky ones too who can still eat nearly everything you should. I went off vegies totally for about 8 weeks just from nausea etc and at the moment the most appealing fruit to me is banana so I have half a one with porridge for brekky etc.
We all know what we SHOULD eat during preg - but sometimes we just cannot either a) stomach it b) just don't want it.
Sounds like your diet is still really well balanced so lovey I wouldn't beat yourself up for a row of choccy or 4!
I know what you mean, as far as calcium and all that jazz, I would hope that between your vitamin and milk every day..it shouldn't be too bad.. You'll probably find that as teh weather gets lighter and you get bigger ( I am guessing here as it is my 1st), you might feel more like salads and lighter meals in general. That's how I am starting to feel, not craving so much comfort food anymore as nice big salads and fruits..
At my 1st antenatal class, our MW said that the baby pretty much takes whatever it needs from us, we are stuck with the leftovers...so the bub should be fine. Your diet does sound pretty balanced.
Maybe try to eat Dark choc, is not as sugary and I usually cannot eat as much of it as it is sooo rich.
