grunting while pooing...

just a quick sanity check - i think this is normal but thought I had better check...
DS grunts a lot when he is pooing and makes a funny face (kind of scrunched up) and his face goes red (not always but sometimes). It doesnt seem to really bother him (unless he is a bit consipated) but i thought i woujld check, is this something ineed to get checked??? he is 12 mths. tia.

Both my boys do that. DS1 is 2 and DS2 is just over a month.

Lets face it, if you really abandon to yourself to the full sensory pleasure of a bowel movement, you'd probably grunt and scrunch your face as well! We've just forgotten how to enjoy it I think, LOL!

hilarious!! u should see his face, it is v cute...
i knew it was normal but it is just that it seems to be getting louder sometimes.. and the other day apparently he was doing it in a shopping mall when dh was out with him and ppl stared disapprovingly at my dh...
also i get puzzled when parents are 'surprised' thei rlittle one had done a poo - bc i sure do get a loud warning!!
