A hammock for a fourteen month old?

I'm thinking about hiring a hammock for Joshua. He is sleeping fine at night but has trouble going down for his day sleep. At the moment he will only sleep during the day if I take him for a walk in his stroller. I'm concerned that it will be too hot to do this in summer.

I was thinking about getting one to try from 'Hire For Baby'. Do you think he would be too big now? He is almost 11kg.

    Thanks for your feedback.

hmmm we hired a hammock when dd was younger, can't recall the exact age, maybe a few months... i seem to remember being really surprised that older babies could sleep in a hammock, that it would even be safe.... i know with my dd she would have clambered out or gotten tangled up....

maybe some people with experience with older bubs in hammocks can shed some light...?

i just can't fathom how it would work, just because of how mobile they are at that age.... but maybe there is a knack to it...

i have just bought an amby baby hammock to use for our new baby (due feb). we have set it up and tried to put ds (11 months) in it a few times to test it out. he hates it! he just seems too big and mobile for it and doesn't look comfy in there at all.
i think there are others on here who use them for older bubs so hopefully they can give you some help. maybe it's just my ds, but he just doesn't seem to like it at all.

My ds is 7 months old and I stopped using the hammock about a month ago because he was turning on his tummy and getting all tangled up. I think if I put him in it now he would pull himself out.
I have heard of older bubs using them. I think it depends on the bub. You could hire it for a week or month and see how he goes. Best of luck.

We used a hammock for Oskar and I think he was around 6 months when he stopped using it because he wanted to roll around too much.

Older babies can use them, however I probably wouldn't as he's older and it's something he's not used to. If you're hiring it I guess there's no harm in trying though. Oskar likes sleeping on his tummy though so it's no option at all! lol.

My DS1 had is day naps in his hammock up until he was nearly 2, but he had been in it since he was 10 weeks old so he was used to it and didn't try and get out of it. He loved it and would bounce himself off to sleep in it.

I'm not sure how an older bub would go in it for the first time, but it wouldn't hurt to find out

I am the biggest fan of the hammocks, but all 3 of mine were too wriggly by 12 months..........and they were really used to it.

Maybe if the day sleep thing is a problem, introduce a new set of sleep cues? I know when Lexie started bucking the day sleep recently, I hid her blankie through the day, and "found it" for her after lunch just before naptime. And now she gets that blankie = nap time.......
