    Question What's my Belly doing??

This weird thing keeps happening, maybe a few times a day, often at night. My belly, well, my uterus goes into like a really hard lump! If I feel it it's like rock hard! Then it just goes away. Doesn't hurt or anything. It's usually the whole thing but sometimes it seems a bit more on one side.

I thought it was maybe gas or something, but then nothing ahh... comes out So, what is going on??

Is it just my uterus growing?

Really? I thought they didn't happen until later on, especially with a first pregnancy? And I thought they were a bit painful or something? I have no idea really.
Is it anything to worry about? I worry about everything. I shouldn't read the miscarriage stories I know but there have been a few ppl lately on BB and in real life who have lost their baby around 20wks so now I'm back to being a worry wart again. I thought it would stop after 12 weeks!!

Yep I agree hun - definately BH! I had them from pretty early both pregnancies and get them anywhere from 5-15 times a day! I even get them when I get up too quick off the couch, or if I need to pee!
Try not to worry lovely, I know it is easy to say, we mothers worry all the time, even once these cheeky monkeys are out!

The uterus actually contracts for the entire pregnancy, for preparation. It's just an individual thing on when you start to feel it. Braxton Hicks don't always feel painful. Some people don't feel it at all while others (like me) it can be quite painful.

Try not to worry. Your body is doing everything it should be.

Thankyou for all your reassurance girls makes me feel better. I'm probably more worried too because I have my scan on Friday and I've always been so nervous before my other scans so far hoping that everything is alright.

SJ, I've had the same thing happening for a few weeks now - probably started around 18 weeks. They aren't painful at all and I mostly don't even feel them unless my hand is resting on my belly. I figure if anything bad is happening, then it will be painful and obvious so I haven't really worried about it.

I was thinking it may be BH, it's nice to know that I was right and that it really is nothing to worry about at all.

I always wondered what BH would actually feel like, seems different for everyone. A few weeks back i was getting very mild type period pain and i put that down to BH, haven't had them much since just every now and then. I didn't really get anything with DS until my waters broke and then the contractions slowly started, this time a little different.

Mine feel like very mild period pain lately..... and tightening sensations but not really painful, just uncomfortable!! Especially if i've eaten too much and it happens, then i'm really uncomfortable for a bit!!
It's weird when your belly/uterus goes really tight and feels super hard hey! It's taken me a bit of getting used to it....

This just happened to me about half an hour ago. I had it on two occasions when I was almost 18 weeks, then it went away, and it's just happened again.

It's a bit freaky, and hard not to think that it's something wrong, but obviously it's happening to lots of people at around the same stage as me.

Ren - does it mostly happen to you when you've eaten too much? The times it's happened to me it's been after a very big meal, but it feels different to just being full - really hard and tight, but not painful.

It's so hard not to worry about everything.

SJ - best of luck for your scan tomorrow.

Yep, I use to get them with DD too. And mine were painless. Also, orgasms (pmsl) use to set BH's off for me too. Don't worry, it's all very normal
