Weight Gain and the mysterious loss of my willpower!!!!

    Hi Everyone!

I've gotta be honest with you - i really don't know what sort of weight gain I am meant to have because prepregnancy I didn't weigh myself that often.
I wasa typical hourglass shape about a size 8 waist and size 14 hips and thighs (yay lets go and try and find jeans to fit...lo)

I am feeling really strange now because obviously my whole bodyshape has changed and it's really hard for me to gauge accurantely whether or not the rest of me is expanding as well as my tummy...lol

If i ask DF he just says that I am getting "bigger" but it looks great ....LOL
Yesterday I tried my jeans on that fit me this time last week and now I can barely get them over my hips

And also I have absolutely NO willpower. If I decide I want a mars bar I eat one and then afterwarsd sit there going ooooppsssssss!!!
The funny this is that pre preg I was always able to say no.

Has anyone experienced this and how big should you get in pg and is it normally confined to your belly??

    Thanks Guys!!!

Confined to your belly? God no!
I put on thirty kilos in pregnancy, and DS was only 3.6kg... plus say the averge 6 for placenta and fluid etc... The other 20kg had to go somewhere!!

    Hi DD
Yep i know what you mean about willpower, it completely goes out the window while pregnant! I work straight across the road from the new McCafe and it is sooooooooo hard not to go over and get one of those warm double chocolate cakes....they are so yum. I feel as those i want to drool while typing
I did read somewhere that it is average to put on 300grams per week, at my last antenatal appointment i had put on 2kgs in a matter of 4wks. I wasn't too worried though as that was the only bit i had actually put on.
I normally try to even out my naughty eating by making sure i still consume plenty of good stuff!

Dee - I am hearing you on the complete loss of willpower! My appetite knows no bounds at the moment - if I want something, I just can't resist.

Since I was first weighed at 8 weeks pg I've put on just over 8 kg, and I think I was a couple of kilos lighter than that when I first got pg. I'm now wondering how much more I'm going to put on, seeing as most of it is supposed to go on in the second trimester. But to be honest, I'm not too worried about it, I'll lose it eventually.

Oh yeah, a lot of it is going on on the belly, but there are considerable amounts going on the bum and saddlebags as well - lovely! Unfortunately almost none on my boobs.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, eating in pregnancy is hard enough with constant listeria vigilance without also having to worry about calories.

    thanks so much!!!
Being that this is my first baby and I don't have any friends with kids around it's great to be able to bounce things off you guys!

I was starting to think I was just becoming a cow eating all the time but now I know it's pretty normal I feel much better.

I just want to be careful because I don't want to put on MASSIVE amounts of excess weight and then not be able to lose it ...

Hmmm..... now where did I leave that block of kit kat chocolate??? (hehehehe you guys think I'm joking but I'm not) PMSL

Dee - we can all be constantly grazing cows together! I have been thinking of myself more as a pig though!

Oh no, Danni - after you posted about how the gain should be around 300g per week, I got out the calculator, and I've been putting on 571g per week, so at this rate I will gain another 10kg and will be almost 20kg heavier than my pre preg weight. Nooooooo!!!!!

It's not my fault - it's the baby!

Count me in along the rest of you girls too!!!

I've put on 7 or 8kgs since falling pregnant and I'm sure my hips, boobs, butt and belly are in for more weight gain over the next 17 or so weeks!!! haha!!!

I too, since getting my appetite back after about week13 onwards, i've been buying chocolate blocks (family size) and packets of chips etc and just can't help myself most days!! Not every day, but most days I eat something naughty!!! I didnt' feel like chocolate or potato chips in the first trimester as i was nauseous and tried to eat healthy so now i'm making it up haha .....I figure, as long as i'm eating my protein, veges, fruit, etc then why not!?!

Dont' worry we can all be piggies together
