If you are already in their 'system' and recieving benefits of any sort form them, then it is usually quicker, but if you are new to Family Assistance/Centrelink, then it can take a little longer.
Ours took 4 weeks from when I submitted the for to when I recieved the money. There was a long weekend (Easter) in the middle of that, and thats always a bit of a write off in terms of getting anuthing done.
timeliness standard is to have 70% of all claims processed within 3 weeks of all information (form, and other details over phone or net, any additional verification documents) being provided
if you're actively receiving family tax benefit for another child, you only need to provide your form
I think ours took 4 weeks from when the paperwork was lodged in the office. We are in Melbourne but are in the Casey area which is the biggest baby booming area in the country (so I was told by our health nurse & mothers group leader) so would be busier than most areas. It was also lodged a week after the birth which just happened to coincide with June 30 so that could have delayed things a little.
We got ours 3-4 weeks after the forms being lodged. I was told that August-September was the busiest months they've seen in a while (still haven't received birth certificate, been 8 weeks since forms sent!).
