The BEST school hol activity EVER (who would've thunk?)

Well my DD got busy in the garden yesterday and declared she was getting herself a pet...

...SNAIL! She spent hours painstakingly and lovingly preparing a home for it in an old plastic container, before finally selecting two lucky contestants to move in! She's been doting on them last night and all day today, and we've finally resorted to internet research as she's fretting that they might not like their food.

Seems like there's a whole world of pet-snail keepers out there . Seriously. Who would've thunk?

    This reminds me ...

When we were small, my sisters and I would make a snail FARM in the sandpit. We would have "cages" for snails and the snails would be sorted by size

We had SOOOO much fun and it kept us busy for HOURS.

We eventually expanded our farming to include centipedes (they would run away quickly) and beetles (had to build special cages for them )

I was a really enthusiastic tadpole farmer.
Luckily for me my mother never minded her pyrex casserole dish being used as a pond. She was probably relieved that all my pets grew legs and hopped away lol.

What a great idea! I hope the snails don't up and die on her though, she'd be crushed if they did.

LOL Chloe, we used to spend nearly every weekend as kids collecting tadpoles and we had a whole system set up for their different development stages.
