Recommendations for Good c-section OB - PERTH

    Hi all,

I am just 5 wks pregnant and am looking to choose a good private ob soon. I think i would like to opt for an elective c-section but not 100% sure on it at this stage.

I would like to feel that i have both options though so im looking for an OB that will do a c-section if requested and has good experience with them. Can anyone recommend me an OB in Perth? Preferably close to the city or SOR.

    Thanks.

    Hi Nyrad
I saw your post a few weeks ago and thought someone may know someone closer than i do. The one i know of is Catherine Harris but she operates out of Glengarry hospital which is NOR not sure if she does anywhere else, but she has been labelled the cesear queen for her fondness of doing CS's and i know a few friends who have gone to her and reckon shes great, very "down to business" type but knows her stuff. Good luck!

Chris Gunnell is a private OB at Attadale and although pro-VB, I think he did one of Australia's first maternally assisted C sections. Google his name to find the article. He was my OB and I can't wait to see him again! He is a very calm and gentle man.

Best of luck in your decision.

    thank you for the suggestions.

Scooby Catherine Harris seems to be very well known for doing caesars unfortunately i dont live NOR or even very close to the city on the south side either. I was thinking if i have a csection it wouldn't matter but what if not! There must me others, will have to suss it out actually maybe my GP will know.

Shoegirl i will check him out. Did you like Attadale?

Attadale was great, I enjoyed the small hospital setting. We often had the same MW for a couple of shifts over our stay. The food was lovely too! In saying that, they are understaffed, the same at any other hospital. Don't feel afraid to ring your bell for help, especially when you want your attachment checked. You need to ask for help sometimes otherwise they will think that you are coping and you will be left to your own devices. I found the hospital employed MW far better than the agency ones.

    Hi Nyrad

I just went through Adam Gubbay at SJOG Subi. I had a c/s and he did a fantastic job. I had very little pain afterwards a fast recovery. The scar is barely noticable. From what I've heard from others, he would also be great if you decide not to have a c/s, so you'll definately be able to keep your options open.

    Good luck

Captain, may i ask how you decided on the elective c section or were you sure from the start. Did Dr Gubbay explain everything thoroughly and was he easy to talk to ?

I opted for the c/s after have serious complications during DD1's birth. The risk of it happening again was to great, so a c/s was the best option.
Everything was explained to me really well, so I pretty much knew how the whole thing would go. Adam is really easy to talk to and will answer all your questions. I'll definately be going back to him if I have another bub.

SJOG also ran an information session with a midwife and aneathatist.
