DD is our 4am alarm clock

For about 2 weeks now DD has started waking at 4am or there-abouts each morning. At first I thought it was because DH goes to work at 4am and she was getting woken up. So I generally go and get her and stick her in bed with me and she goes straight back to sleep till 7-8am.. However, she is doing this on weekends now so I'm not sure if it's just habit now, or she gets cold around this time, or what. She isn't waking hungry, or i figure she wouldn't calm down so quickly and go to sleep, but i must admin I haven't really had a good go at getting her back to sleep in her own bed at this time as I'm normally a zombie..

Today she has been brilliant. Woke at 7am (in my bed), she had a feed, went back to sleep almost straight after feed, I did not give her a dummy and put her to bed when I saw her tired signs, she self-settled and off to sleep. She woke at 11.40am for a feed and then at 1pm she was showing tired signs again (she normally stays awake up to 2 hours after a feed, but not today) so i wrapped her up and popped in her bed. She took about 20-30 minutes to go to sleep but she wasn't crying and again no dummy so she self-settled herself. After her lunch time feed she laid on her activity mat for about 20 minutes or so, but then let out a grizzle and a yawn which is why I put her back down. So I'm happy in the fact she is self-settling during the day but wanting to figure out why she wakes at 4am each day now..

I'm wondering if anyone has had this happen where bubba is waking at the same time each night, not for a feed, and how I can get her to easily resettle herself so she just sleeps through it.

P.S. I certainly don't mind her sleeping with me for a few hours in the morning, but don't want to be doing it forever..

Hi Belinda

Sounds pretty normal to me. When is her last feed or awake time overnight? Maybe she is coming out of her sleep cycle and just ready for some awake time.

At such a young age I doubt that she is in a habit yet, but if you are concerned you could always try settling her in her own cot. I would enjoy the time when you can have a nap together. Soon enough she'll be rolling everywhere and can't keep her on the bed for fear she'll roll off!
